Patient Directory

The Patient Directory is the heart of the product. Every other module — consultations, lab, imaging, pharmacy, billing — links back to a row in this directory.

What it stores

  • Demographics — name, age, sex, blood group, contact, address.
  • Identity — Aadhaar / national ID, MRN.
  • Clinical context — allergies, chronic conditions, current medications, family history.
  • Linked records — every visit, prescription, lab result, scan, bill, and admission, in chronological order.

Adding a new patient

Patients → New Patient — the registration form takes about 60 seconds to complete. Mandatory fields are name, age, sex, and contact; everything else can be filled later.

Each patient is automatically assigned a Medical Record Number (MRN) from the configurable MRN format in Settings → Numbering.

Searching for an existing patient

The search bar at the top of the Patient Directory matches against name, MRN, phone, and Aadhaar simultaneously. A four-digit phone match is usually enough to find the right patient at the front desk.

The patient timeline

Open any patient. The right panel shows a timeline of every event: visits, prescriptions, labs, admissions, discharges, bills. Click any row to open the underlying record in place.

Merging duplicates

Found two records for the same patient? Patients → Tools → Merge — pick the master record and the duplicate. The system migrates every linked event onto the master and archives the duplicate with a permanent audit log entry.

Privacy & access

Only users with the patient:read permission see patient records. Demographic edits create an audit log entry. Deletion is soft (the record is retained for medico-legal purposes) and requires admin approval.
